FAQs

Questions from pharmacies and care teams.

These answers explain Cencora’s role in a healthcare alert, where lot-level detail is sent, and what patients should do.

What is a Cencora healthcare alert?

It is a notice about a product, supply position, or distribution condition that can affect pharmacies, health systems, or patients in care. Typical subjects are a manufacturer recall, a label correction, an allocation during a shortage, a vaccine shipment window, or a cold-chain receiving change.

Does Cencora decide that a product is recalled?

No. The manufacturer or the regulator makes that decision. Cencora identifies customers who received the distributed product and sends them the practical steps: which lots to hold, how to separate them, and how to return them.

Why are lot numbers not listed here?

The public page confirms that an alert is open and who it is for. Lot numbers, quantities, and return instructions are sent to the accounts that purchased the affected product, so action is tied to inventory those customers actually hold.

What should a patient do if they see an alert?

Stay on therapy until the dispensing pharmacy or prescriber says otherwise. Ask the pharmacy to check whether the supply you have matches the affected lots. Stopping a medicine on the basis of a headline can be more harmful than the event the alert describes.

What does allocation mean?

When supply is below demand, available product is shared using recent ordering patterns so sites caring for current patients are served first. It is a temporary ordering control, not a recall.

How should a refrigerated shipment with a bad indicator be handled?

Do not dispense it and do not throw it away on the dock. Keep the shipper closed and contact the distribution account team named on your service agreement. They will tell you whether the product can be released or must be returned.

Will this site ask for patient details or a password?

No. Healthcare alerts on this site are public summaries. Patient-specific questions belong with the pharmacy. Account-specific notices travel through the customer’s existing Cencora account channel.
